Important information for teams and players:

  • All players must be at least 16 years of age or year 12 at high school. This is for health and safety reasons and to make sure the league is fun for everyone.

  • Players can only play for one team. Exceptions may be made in exceptional circumstances on a case by case basis when a team would otherwise have to default. In most cases this will trigger a win by default for the other team.

  • Players must have played at least 3 games for their team prior to the play offs to be eligible to play in the play offs. Exceptions may be made on a case by case basis.

  • HCK does not actively monitor player eligibility in regard to the previous three points. It is the other team's responsibility to raise a protest before the end of the game if they believe a player is ineligible. At the end of the game, the result is final if no protest has been made.

  • Teams are expected to provide their own numbered playing singlets. Bibs will be provided as a last resort for a team’s first season only. If you are getting new playing tops printed up please make sure they have numbers both front and back, and avoid black if possible. You can find a contact for a supplier below.

  • If a team is not present when their game is due to start and have not contacted the league coordinator, they will be given 5 minutes to arrive. If they have not arrived after that time and there is still no contact, the other team will win by default and the game cancelled. If a team has contacted the league coordinator to say they will be late, the game will be delayed by 5 minutes, then the game clock will start and they will be penalised by two points for each additional minute they are late. If at least 4 players are not on the court by the start of the second quarter, the other team will win by default and the game cancelled.

  • Referees and scorebench are provided, but we are always looking for more people to get involved. Please contact Lindsay if you are interested. Training is provided and officials are paid for each game.

  • All players are required to agree to the BBNZ Code of Conduct. We have a zero tolerance policy for violence, swearing, aggression and abuse of referees.
